Con el fin de lograr los objetivos nacionales y respondiendo a la necesidad de fortalecer capacidades institucionales y sociales para la adaptación al cambio climático (CC) en México, la Cooperación Alemana al Desarrollo (GIZ) en conjunto con la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (SEMARNAT) y otras instituciones, desarrolló la Metodología para la Priorización de Medidas de Adaptación frente al Cambio Climático.

To respond to the demand for better coordination of research, PROVIA has led the development of a set of Research Priorities on vulnerability, impacts and adaptation in consultation with both experts and policy makers. The Research Priorities include new and emerging topics, and topics that have long been recognized as important but for which research is still required. 

It helps users undertake the following: quick screening; understand climate influence; apply climate risk management process; find tools in CCORAL toolbox; learn more.

This guide is designed to support a community-based or local level management and adaptation planning process. It can be used to explore the non-climate change and climate change threats within a defined geographic area or community in which there is a clear governing structure and decision-making process.

Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region are extremely susceptible and exposed to the threats of future climate change as effects have already been noted with an average increase in temperature of about 1°C, changes in precipitation, and more frequent and intense extreme events (United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) et al. 2010). There is an urgent need to strengthen the national capacity of each country in the region to identify and implement adaptation strategies that are based on locally derived information and vulnerability assessments.

This paper provides an overview of national adaptation planning activity across OECD countries and identifies some of the emerging lessons that have been learnt from their experiences.
