The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is Belize’s National Trust. PACT provides funds for supporting conservation and promoting environmentally sound management of Belize's natural and cultural resources to foster sustainable development. PACT is a bold and innovative strategy for non-traditional revenue generation. The areas for which projects can be funded must fall under one or more of the following priority areas: Protected Areas Management and Conservation; Protected Areas Promotion and Development; Environmental Education and Awareness; and Community Development around Protected Areas. Recently, PACT received the accreditation from the Adaptation Fund as the National Implementing Entity (NIE) for Belize. One of its ongoing projects is titled “Belize marine conservation and climate adaptation project”, aimed to implement the priority ecosystem-based marine conservation and climate adaptation measures to strengthen the climate resilience of the Belize Barrier Reef System.
