The Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (EMBRAPA) is a state-owned company affiliated with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, which is devoted to pure and applied research on agriculture. Embrapa also maintains international cooperation projects in order to perfect knowledge of technical and scientific activities or to share knowledge and technology with other countries. As part of its work, EMBRAPA conducts activities related with agroenergy (biodiesel, biogas, energy forests); agroindustry and food technology; biotechnology and nanotechnology (e.g. bioremediation, biofertilizers); forestry; GIS and remote sensing (e.g. agrometeorology, climatology, land management, environmental modeling); information and communication; environment, genetic resources and natural resources; technology transference and social development.
